DOTA: Dragon’s Blood is an eight-episode anime series set for global launch on 25th March 2021. It’s one of the emotions I’m wondering will be present in Venba, an upcoming cooking-based narrative game arriving this November from artist Sam Elkana and designer/programmer Abhi from Toronto. The story follows the life of an Indian immigrant mother in 1980s Canada, cooking for her family and having discussions with them. Speaking via Skype, Abhi’s explanation for making this the game’s centre seems both obvious and unique. “I personally find a lot of media that relates to immigrant stories, they tend to focus on the second generation kids - just the kids....

Wreckfest’s claim to fame is its destruction. Vehicle damage is fully simulated here, with cars that realistically crumple and disintegrate as they collide. Crashes leave bits of fender and sheet metal strewn over the track, and often send pieces of concrete barriers or tire walls into the air as well. The damage system is backed by a solid handling model, with weighty-feeling vehicles that demand care when navigating corners - but some arcade characteristics that prevent mistakes from being too punishing....

Redfall’s the work of Arkane Austin, and today’s overview mixed up a bit of gameplay with a look at the playable characters. We start approaching a spooky church and then head up into the spire where vampires are leaping about. Shotguns and nice vampire-burning-up effects ensue, and then we’re off to learn a bit about the town. The titular Redfall is an island community in Massachusets apparently, but now the whole place has gone to heck....

With so little to go on right now it’s unclear if this is a full sequel, a spin-off, or something different altogether, but a recent job advertisement from development studio Unknown Worlds hinted that the studio was seeking a narrative designer to “shape the next game in the Subnautica universe”. “We’re seeking a Senior Narrative Designer to work with us to help shape the next game in the Subnautica universe!...

The real-time strategy sequel includes a Norman campaign - one of four historic campaigns in the game at launch. Gameplay is in the video below (there’s a naval combat tease at the end): There’s a new presentation style for Age of Empire 4’s campaigns that draws inspiration from gilded manuscripts of the time. The “golden soldiers” project historical events over present-day real-world locations and aim to provide a realistic sense of place in how events unfolded hundreds of years ago....

As spotted by VGC, a (now removed) listing for a Switch version of Alan Wake Remastered has appeared alongside listings for the previously announced PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PlayStation 5 editions of the game on the Brazilian Classificação Indicativa website. This is the first time word on a Switch version has surfaced, but certainly not the first time a Remedy game has appeared on Nintendo’s console - the studio’s acclaimed supernatural shooter Control made the leap to Switch in 2020, but as a streaming-only Cloud Version....

In the first three days alone, more than 4.7 million players joined the Lost Ark community. It was during these three days that Lost Ark saw a peak of 1.32 million concurrent players. All of the effort the GPU has spent in generating a previous image, working in combination with motion vectors that inform the game of where those pixels will end up in the future, allows for extra detail to be injected into a freshly rendered frame....
