That little news morsel was suspected, of course, if not outright stated, but the freshly launched Bowser’s Fury website clears up any lingering confusion, writing, “Grab a buddy to play as Bowser Jr., who can fly around fighting enemies and discovering secrets in 2-player mode.” Elsewhere, Nintendo has named the setting of Bowser’s Fury - a “free-roaming” standalone adventure packaged in with the Switch port of 2013’s Super Mario 3D World - explaining that Lake Lapcat is home to various islands which Mario will need to visit in order to collect Cat Shines, reignite lighthouses, and brighten the gloomy terrain....

The previous Switch firmware update was back in March, and finally added folders for organising games. The update for version 15.0.0 is available now to download. Although screenshots can be taken within the Switch Online app after launching it from the home screen, video capture is not available. Twitter user OatmealDome shared the changes they found under the hood, which includes updates to the Pro Controller Bluetooth firmware. We’re not quite at the stage of being able to easily transfer screenshots between devices using Nintendo Switch Online but hey-ho, maybe we’ll get there eventually....

This premium tier version of Nintendo’s current online service will provide access to all features included in the basic tier (that is, multiplayer, NES and SNES games, and cloud saves), alongside exclusive access to a slowly expanding collection of Mega Drive and N64 games - which will support suspend points and, for certain titles, online multiplayer. Nintendo has also now revealed it’ll be including Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s freshly announced Happy Home Paradise expansion as an additional incentive at no extra cost....

Last week, Ubisoft told investors the game’s name would likely change as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Then, overnight, artwork spotted by MP1st appeared to show the game with a new “Parasite” name and logo. But Ubisoft has now issued a statement saying this name merely reflects the game’s internal test build - and that a new, final name would be revealed soon. “While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer....

Expeditions, if you’re unfamiliar, are something like No Man’s Sky’s stab at live-service-style seasonal content, serving up limited-time, curated experiences that condense and reshuffle the exploratory space sim’s various systems into a series of progression-based milestone challenges. And the rewards for completing each one are usually pretty neat, ranging from robot dog companions to your very own space whale. And now Hello Games has confirmed it’ll be re-running all four of 2022’s Expedition starting this Thursday, 24th November....

Companions is all about pets, and finally gives No Man’s Sky’s menagerie of weird and wonderful procedural wildlife some much-expanded functionality - with fearless explorers now able to tame, breed, train, and even speak to the creatures they meet. Once a player adopts a creature it will accompany them on their adventures, travelling by their side. These companions can be petted, fed, and played with, and will react to other Travellers in different ways, based on their unique personalities - defined by their species and ecosystem....

It’s thanks to a bug in the latest update that causes the infamous Malenia to self-heal when other players are summoned in to help. The bug was spotted by the now legendary player Let Me Solo Her, who regularly leaves a summon sign outside the boss fight to help those struggling to defeat her. A YouTube video from the player shows the problem: Malenia is meant to self-heal but only when striking the player....

Polish studio People Can Fly is the studio behind 2013’s Gears of War: Judgment, and there is so much of that game here. To a fault, really. Last, last generation level design is all around. That Xbox 360 brown fudge, that convenient hip-high cover dipped generously into a war-torn flan. Chunky enemies and chunks of enemies, bad guys exploding in a puff of blood for no real reason at all....

Currently priced at $6.99 (£5.19 in the UK), the Flavour Packs will cost $12.99 from 13th September. In a forum post (thanks TheGamer), the developer said it was “altering the prices of our Flavour Packs (Northern Lords and Fate of Iberia) to reflect the overall value of this kind of content moving forward”. In response, Rockstar promised to make amends by giving PC owners the classic PC versions at no additional cost when purchased through the Rockstar Games Launcher. Now, the publisher is going one step further by giving away a free Rockstar game for the same PC players. Announced last summer, New Genesis is described as the “next-generation” of Phantasy Star Online 2, and catapults the action forward 1,000 years after the Oracle’s battle in PSO2. Bundled alongside the base game, it includes a new graphics engine, enhanced character models, a new multi-weapon system, and, most notably, a “wide-open battlefield” with changing time and weather, traversable using new abilities like the Photon Dash and Photon Glide. There’s also cross-platform play, plus fully localised text and character voices in English....

Platinum’s Hideki Kamiya announced the delay this morning during an hour-long livestream titled “Sol Cresta: Hideki Kamiya’s Very Sorry Stream”, which also featured new footage of the game. There’s no word on when Sol Cresta will now arrive, though Kamiya said he hoped to reveal the game’s new release date early in 2022. Sol Cresta was only given its previous 9th December release date for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch back in September, shortly after the game was demoed in its own work-in-progress arcade cabinet....

Running from now until 19th December, you’ll be able to kick off your own Viking adventure on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Ubisoft Store. If you’ve yet to meet Eivor, you’ll get “full main game content” - so, the base game, without any subsequent DLC - and if you like it enough to stick around, your progression will carry over if you decide to purchase the game....

It’s worth noting these trials are not available separately - you are essentially selecting to sign up to Extra/Premium via their various monthly/three-monthly/annual billing options, and just get seven days free up front. GT7 launched today worldwide, though is currently unavailable to purchase via the Russian PlayStation Store. Eurogamer understands the decision not to sell the game in Russia was made by PlayStation last night. Sony is yet to formally announce the game’s removal from sale, and did not immediately respond to a request for comment today. Ahead of GT7’s release, PlayStation did not respond to repeated requests for comment from Eurogamer this week on GT7’s status in the country....

There are four different formes of Deoxys to collect in Pokémon Go - Attack, Defence, Speed and Normal. Each one can use a variety of different moves and slightly different stats depending on which one it specialises in. Like the other legendary Pokémon it shares the Hoenn region with, such as Groudon and Rayquaza, Deoxys will be available in five-star raids, so, if you want to capture one of its forms, you’ll need a team of fellow Pokémon trainers....
