It offers up arguably one of the simplest designs available in Razer’s lineup, providing an egg-like shape, slightly similar to Logitech’s popular G305, which is surprisingly comfortable in the hand. The fact the Orochi V2 is so small is also reflected in its lightweight frame - 60g without a battery and up to 75g with one - which makes it a nimble mouse to use for gaming. You can even use special lightweight lithium AAA batteries to minimise the weight if you’re so inclined....

On the gameplay front, Capcom shared an action-packed couple of minutes of its RE4 remake, starting with a sequence from early in the game that sees protagonist Leon skulking through the woods before stumbling across a seemingly abandoned barn. It’s a suitably atmospheric sequence, showing off the remake’s various visual upgrades, and one that segues into a chaotic outdoor battle as Leon is swarmed by Ganado. Inevitably, things come to an end with our old friend chainsaw guy - but Leon somehow manages to keep his head on this time around....

Along with this news, we also have a breakdown of his moveset. This will include fart bombs (of course) and a move called “Meeseeks and Destroys” which summons a meeseek that will then attack by running forward and deploying an uppercut or by wielding a golfclub. Lastly, Rick will be able to aim and place two portals thanks to his “Basrick Portal Theory” move. Along with Rick’s arrival in the game, this patch also adds a few other updates to MultiVersus....

The mobile version of the currently PC-only free-to-play competitive first-person shooter, which now has more than 14 million players each month, is in the works, but Riot did not say when it will come out, or reveal any images or gameplay. Valorant launched on PC a year ago, on 2nd June 2020. Riot said it’s working on expanding the franchise, starting with Valorant Mobile, “in order to bring Valorant to more players around the world....

A new blog post from Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent outlines his plan for the next five years, both in terms of company structure and content. “Our mission is to be the most player-focused game company in the world,” he says. “And that mission is an aspiration; a thing we know isn’t true yet but could be one day. “We’ll always make games. But we also increasingly think that’s an outdated way to categorise us....

The video, below, from People Make Games’ Quintin Smith, reveals Roblox’s shady exchange system, which, it claims, makes it incredibly hard for developers to make money from the platform. The video also runs through how Roblox, which has 200 million monthly users, encourages young game developers to work incredibly hard with unreasonable expectations of success. Roblox revolves around kids making games for other kids to play. Its developers can monetise their games, and are paid in a virtual currency called Robux....

Playing a certain class requires you to unlock it with gold coins first. Even then you can’t just pick the same character for every run, as you only get three random classes pulled from what you have unlocked. Originally released on PlayStation consoles in November 2020 (launch window for PS5), the game arrived on PC via Steam last week on 27th October. However, so far it’s highest concurrent player peak is just 610 players, according to SteamDB. Humble has been a reliable retailer for years, and this week they have a Season of Pride sale, with big discounts on games featuring LGBTQ+ characters and those supportive of Pride. Even better is that a portion of the sales proceeds will help fund the Trevor Project, an American non-profit that helps young LGBTQ+ people struggling with mental health issues. The claims centred on co-founder Simon Darveau, and emerged after concern surrounding his growing influence on the development of Season, the studio’s promising upcoming PlayStation 5 game whose debut trailer traded on its inclusive story ideas. This morning, Scavengers Studio announced it had now “indefinitely suspended Darveau from all responsibilities”, in a post on the studio’s website penned by current CEO Amélie Lamarche. Lamarche also came under fire in GamesIndustry....

The game was first announced back at E3 2018, but a series of delays saw its release date pushed back to 2021. Players take on the role of Sable, and embark on a rite of passage that sees her leave her tribe to explore the world on her hoverbike. It’s got a gorgeous art style that’s inspired by French artist Mobieus, and a sci-fi open world that feels very reminiscent of some of the wrecks seen in Star Wars....

This led to a bunch of angry investors, many of whom filed class action lawsuits against CD Projekt for allegedly misleading them over the state of the game. So many, in fact, that several lawsuits have now been rolled into one big lawsuit by a US court. CD Projekt has now confirmed that four lawsuits against the company from December and January have been consolidated into one. The court has now appointed a lead plaintiff, and all four lawsuits will now be subject to “potential common court proceedings”....

Beyond a Joke, which is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, serves up a new quest - the first of “three major bonus story content additions”, as Frogwares puts it - in which young Sherlock Holmes and his chiselled jawline go on the hunt for an “unstoppable” thief targeting the island of Cordona’s ultra-rich “with brazen gusto and open mockery”. Beyond a Joke is a paid addition to Chapter One, costing £4....

Shredder’s Revenge takes its cues from the classic arcade games that always used to scare me a bit when I was young, because the four-player cabinets tended to have clusters of older kids hanging around. It’s a pixel-art side-scrolling beat-’em-up, basically, and it has coin-op in its blood, from the message that flashes up telling you to “GO!” if you dawdle, to the bosses that drop in bearing the unmistakable health bars of people who want to get at least a couple of 50p pieces out of your crew....

Included are remastered versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, where you can play Sonic, Tails or Knuckles. The Sonic Oranges trailer below shows off each games’ Classic and Anniversary modes, and mentions a Digital Deluxe version of the game with “bonus hard missions”. Some of the additional features in the bonus additions are a little cheeky, however - pre-orders get the Start Dash Pack DLC with 100 Bonus Coins and Mirror Mode unlocked from the start....

However, those figures are lower than expected - by 3.3m consoles - following warnings by Sony it was struggling to get hold of components. Sony had hoped to shift 14.8m PS5 consoles this past financial year (the 12 months ending 31st March 2022) in order to match - if not outpace - the number of PS4s sold at the same point in its lifecycle. Operating profit was 138.6bn yen for the past financial quarter (£862m), lower than estimated....

Since last July, Valve has been using a reservation system for Steam Deck orders that first required purchasers to pay a small, deductible sum to join the reservations queue then wait for an invite to make a final purchase. For some time, the wait between the two steps was upward of several months, but the gap has been steadily narrowing as Steam Deck production began to outperform Valve’s estimates. Now, some 15 months after reservations for Steam Deck initially opened, Valve has announced the queue has been eradicated....

I suspect it’s for this reason that Steam Deck is so eagerly awaited, because the system offers so much opportunity that inevitably, it becomes the embodiment of what everyone has ever wanted from a handheld. The cheap, powerful handheld Nintendo hasn’t delivered yet with Switch Pro? A portable PS4? The ultimate mobile device for retro gaming? Potentially, Steam Deck can do all of these things and as soon as you’ve sunk a couple of hours into the system, you get some idea of what it’s actually capable of - and from there, the possibilities seem endless....

According to Valve UX designer Lawrence Yang this drifting was caused by a software problem, a “deadzone regression from a recent firmware update”. However, the company has managed to find an easy solution to sort the Steam Deck’s drift, with Yang tweeting, “We just shipped a fix to address the bug, so make sure you’re up to date”. The Steam Deck is not the only console to have been plagued by wondering controls....

Oh, to economise. This is all I’ve done so far in Ixion, one of several gems in the Steam Next Fest. Ixion is a game about managing a big, circular - almost tubular - space station. You’ve been put there by some corporation or another, DOLOS, and your goal is, effectively, to push pencils. There’s a bit more to it than that - your effective pencil-pushing is technically in service of the wider goal of space exploration, the search for a new home for humanity....
